The Real Flaw: Fox Is a No-Fawn Zone – Rasmussen Reports™

Such scruples, you may marvel, from the office of a president who just spent quality time on CBS’s “The Late Show” with David Letterman. President Obama quipped that he appeared on the show to sneak a peak at a “heart-shaped potato.” I know because I read about it on the CBS News Web page.

OK, so Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., went too far in suggesting that Obama was drafting an “enemies list.” White House aides have a right to criticize a news organization, even question its credibility.

In the same vein, pundits are free to mock the administration’s risible attempts to dress up its thin-skinned ways as love for unbiased reportage.

Note: This phony act has backfired. It set the stage for conservative critics at WorldNetDaily to post a January video of Dunn telling a Dominican government conference that the 2008 Obama campaign strategy focused on “making the press cover what we were saying” — often by not talking to reporters. “It was very much, we controlled it,” said Dunn, “as opposed to the press controlled it.”

Dunn’s idea of a good journalist then would be: a zombie.

U.S. Said to Order Deep Pay Cuts at Bailed-Out Companies – Politics and Government * US * News * Story – CNBC.com

Not hiding from the title anymore Obama brazenly and publicly embracing the Socialist mantra by nationalizing the operations of banks. Now that classic pinko folks. No question or ambiguity about it.

The Obama administration will order the companies that received the most aid to deeply slash the compensation to their highest paid executives, an official involved in the decision said on Wednesday.

Abortion: Obama’s Fabrications | FactCheck.org

Senate legislation would allow a new “public” insurance plan to cover abortions, despite language added to the House bill that technically forbids using public funds to pay for them. Obama has said in the past that “reproductive services” would be covered by his public plan, so it’s likely that any new federal insurance plan would cover abortion unless Congress expressly prohibits that. Low- and moderate-income persons who would choose the “public plan” would qualify for federal subsidies to purchase it. Private plans that cover abortion also could be purchased with the help of federal subsidies. Therefore, we judge that the president goes too far when he calls the statements that government would be funding abortions “fabrications.”

Obama’s Health Care Speech | FactCheck.org

President Obama’s prime-time address to Congress and the nation on health care prompted a Republican congressman to shout “you lie!” Did he? Here’s what we’ve found:

* Obama was correct when he said his plan wouldn’t insure illegal immigrants; the House bill expressly forbids giving subsidies to those who are in the country illegally. Conservative critics complain that the bill lacks an enforcement mechanism, but that hardly makes the president a liar.

* The president said “no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions.” But the House bill would permit a “public option” to cover all abortions, and would also permit federal subsidies to be used to purchase private insurance that covers all abortions, a point that raises objections from anti-abortion groups. That’s true despite a technical ban on use of taxpayer dollars to pay for abortion coverage.

* The president repeated his promise that his plan won’t add “one dime” to the federal deficit. But legislation offered so far would add hundreds of billions of dollars to the deficit over the next decade, according to the Congressional Budget Office.

* Obama said his plan won’t “require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have.” It’s true that there’s no requirement, but experts say the legislation could induce employers to switch coverage for millions of workers.

House Members Raise Concerns Over Abortion Funding in Health Reform Bill – Political News – FOXNews.com

To paraphrase the Bush era liberal hysteria, but with truth this time…

Obama lied, babies are gonna die!

A coalition of pro-life groups, accompanied by several House Republicans outside the U.S. Capitol, delivered a petition signed by 137,000 Americans Wednesday voicing disapproval with current health care reform legislation.

The petitions sent a strong message that “the American people cherish the sanctity of life… the American people don’t want federal money used to violate their morals,” said Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind.

Pro-life groups argue the current health care legislation grinding its way through Congress will allow taxpayer dollars to be used to fund abortions. Specifically, they point to a provision in the House Energy and Commerce Committee bill that provides government subsidies to pay for premiums for private insurance policies that include elective abortion coverage. This subsidy, which is supposed to help with insurance costs, will have the unintended consequence of funding abortions, they say.

The 0% Tax Rate Solution – WSJ.com

The federal income tax code is now so mangled that we can probably increase federal revenues with a 0% income tax rate for a majority of Americans.

Long before President Barack Obama took office, the bottom 40% of income earners paid no federal income taxes. Because of refundable income tax credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), in 2006 these bottom 40% as a group actually received net payments equal to 3.6% of total income tax revenues, according to the latest Congressional Budget Office data. The actual middle class, the middle 20% of income earners, pay only 4.4% of total federal income tax revenues. That means the bottom 60% together pay less than 1% of income tax revenues.

This actually resulted from Republican tax policy going all the way back to the EITC, which was first proposed by Ronald Reagan in his historic 1972 testimony before the Senate Finance Committee on the success of his welfare reforms as governor of California. Besides calling for workfare, Reagan proposed the EITC to offset the burden of Social Security payroll taxes on the poor. As president, Reagan cut and indexed income tax rates across the board and doubled the personal exemption. The Republican majority Congress, led by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, adopted a child tax credit that President George W. Bush later expanded and made refundable, while also reducing the bottom tax rate by 33% to 10%.

Bret Stephens: Does Obama Believe in Human Rights – WSJ.com

It . . . takes a remarkable degree of cynicism—or perhaps cowardice—to treat human rights as something that “interferes” with America’s purposes in the world, rather than as the very thing that ought to define them. Yet that is exactly the record of Mr. Obama’s time thus far in office.

In Massachusetts not long ago, I found myself driving behind a car with “Free Tibet,” “Save Darfur,” and “Obama 08” bumper stickers. I wonder if it will ever dawn on the owner of that car that at least one of those stickers doesn’t belong.
