Obama’s slimy signature move: unsealing opponents’ private records

Obama became a U.S. senator only by virtue of David Axelrod’s former employer, the Chicago Tribune, ripping open the sealed divorce records of Obama’s two principal opponents.

One month before the 2004 Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate, Obama was down in the polls, about to lose to Blair Hull, a multimillionaire securities trader. But then the Chicago Tribune leaked the claim that Hull’s second ex-wife, Brenda Sexton, had sought an order of protection against him during their 1998 divorce proceedings.

Those records were under seal, but as The New York Times noted: “The Tribune reporter who wrote the original piece later acknowledged in print that the Obama camp had ‘worked aggressively behind the scenes’ to push the story.” Many people said Axelrod had “an even more significant role — that he leaked the initial story.”

Obama’s Pfeiffer still won’t tell the truth about the Churchill bust gaffe

British officials had made it clear to the White House that President Obama could keep the Churchill bust in the Oval Office. In other words, it was the White House’s firm decision to return the bust, and no request was made by the British to have it back. This looks awfully like a deliberate snub of America’s closest friend and ally, and it would be good for the White House to acknowledge the truth, rather than continue to spin a blatantly false and misleading line. On the Marriage Platform, Its Us against Dem

This wedding season, Democrats are planning a proposal of their own: an endorsement of same-sex “marriage” in the official party platform. During this weeks meetings, DNC delegates agreed to the change, which would–for the first time in history–bind a political party to the push to redefine marriage. Rep. Barney Frank D-Mass., one of a handful of Democrats drafting this years platform, insists the plank will be included when the full committee meets in August.

Even he must recognize that its a huge gamble for the party, which is still loaded with leaders who disagree with the President on the subject. At the very least, it puts the Democrats in an extremely awkward position back home. In 32 of 32 states, voters have upheld the definition of marriage as the union of a man and woman–and the DNC is putting its party at odds with all of them.
